We all know that for the majority of young people, a school activity programme or end of term trip is the highlight of their year... and we certainly think it should therefore be an unforgettable experience. With over 25 years experience is creating a positive, fun and engaging experience, our team go a long way in improving a child's confidence, self esteem and social skills.
"When getting afloat at SWAC, your school trip will help develop knowledge, understanding, resilience, teamwork and a sense of pride in undertaking new challenges. Our RYA and Ofsted aligned outcomes mean that we passionately believe that opportunities as part of children's education can enhance their progress and learning back in the classroom"
Jenni - Schools Instructor
We’ve been offering a variety of educational programmes for decades, and each and every booking is fully tailored to the needs of the school, it’s students and the desired outcomes.
Our offering includes watersport activity sessions. The local River is extremely safe and offers a fantastic introduction to outdoor education afloat for children of all ages, from all backgrounds.
If it’s a classic reward trip you’re looking for, we can certainly make it a memorable one with our broad range of multi-activity propositions.
Children are usually grouped (depending on their age, experience etc) and rotate between incredible activities such as Raft Building, Stand Up Paddleboarding, Sailing and Water Fun games.
With experience in accommodating groups of up to 90 onsite at any one time, you don’t need to worry about separate day trips for each year group. Trips can be booked by the half or full day.
Every day trip comes with a no-obligation pre-visit to understand the site layout, equipment and see our incredible team of instructors in action.
Our most popular product is our Weekly Sailing Sessions. Whether this is during the school day or programmed as an After School Club, we enjoy getting children afloat each week and coaching their newly learnt skills.
Usually, our schools attend weekly sessions of 2.5 hours during the school time, or during the early evening. Students enjoy a variety of different activities – giving them a great opportunity to try something new or improve on their existing skills.
For others, children work towards our National Governing Body’s Youth Sailing Scheme (Royal Yachting Association) Stages. A six week visit often allows children to complete their RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stage.
Longer school trips can help children with transition to adulthood and for many, is often the first time they have stayed away from home without parents.
Our four and five day watersport trips are more and more popular each year and our campsite (at our sister centre, Woodmill Outdoor Activities Centre) allows you to deal with all aspects of your booking with just one organisation – seamless eh!
We can provide exhilarating multi-activity school trips based across our outdoor adventure centres within Southampton, too. They allow you to tailor activities to include land-based adventures and alpine activities too – we can even help with the transportation, catering and provide camping equipment for your stay with us.
We passionately believe that we offer a Residential experience which offers a safe, secure and enjoyable setting for students to experience a trip away from home – and discover the great outdoors. There is not one dormitory in sight, as we think that learning outside the classroom, cooking on an open fire and camping all come hand in hand with outdoor learning – whilst having a whole load of fun!
Our lovely sales team work in unison with our expert Instructor team at site on every booking, meaning from enquiry to invoice, arrival to certification – we are slick.
We understand that bringing children away from school or college can be full of challenge (and paperwork!) and that’s why we are here to help. If a day trip, weekly sesson or week long trips won’t work for you, then we are ready to talk through your exact requirements and build a booking that works for you, your students, your teachers (and your coach drivers!)
As little as 15 minutes on the phone will allow our lovely sales advisors to provide you with a quote and example of programme of activities to review with your fellow teachers (and head!)
Ditch the dorms – and really discover the great outdoors!
Enjoy a multi-day programme of watersports at SWAC – with evenings camping just down the road, at our sister venue.
Over multiple days, students will enjoy either a variety of multi activities, over three or four short and snappy sessions or work towards their RYA Youth Sailing Scheme Stages in groups of 6. These will include, Sailing, Powerboating, Stand Up Paddleboarding and Water Confidence games (and missions!)
Hidden within the private grounds of our sister venue, Woodmill Outdoor Activities Centre is easily accessed by all major transport routes, our dedicated camping village can sleep groups of most sizes. We think it’s the the best base for those visiting us for their residential school adventures and is only a short bus ride away from SWAC each morning and evening.
We focus everything we do around being BRILLIANT – average, good or even every good just won’t do!
Our satisfaction guarantee gives you the confidence to book, knowing that we’ll put things right, if for some reason we let you down and don’t meet the expectations.
If you are not fully satisfied with your Schools & College experience, we’ll ask you to send this to us in writing for a member of our Management team to review and seek to understand what could have been better. Providing our full terms and conditions have been adhered to, we will ensure to put things right. Please however note the following:
If we cancel an activity due to severe weather, where possible shall transfer you to another date or we will refund you in full. If you make the decision to not turn up to a booking, this does not entitle you to a refund. If you’ve not heard from us, always arrive as planned for your session despite the weather conditions or forecast as our teams are experts with our locality and watersport delivery.
Afterall, we are an outdoor activity centre and the typical UK weather means that we deliver in most weather conditions. Cancellations of sessions only take place if conditions are or likely to become dangerous, e.g. high winds or lightening storms. Decisions on this are made by our experts operational teams at SWAC.
Please note that to qualify for our satisfaction guarantee you must arrive on time and take part in your booked school or college activity. We will not refund any late arrivals or no shows.
Please remember we are based in the heart of the city so allow enough time to arrive for your booking.
For larger bookings, our guarantee is offered based on the reasonable extent the experience was affected. E.g. you would not get a refund for the whole group, if one students’ experience was not up to standard.
If you do wish to request a refund this must be done in writing as per our complaints & compliments policy. Click here to view.
