Running from March – October, Onboard Sailing Club is the perfect way to develop children’s sailing on the water. Delivered by our expert instructors and governed by the RYA – Onboard Sailing Club is a fun, engaging and informative way for children to progress from their stage 2 Sailing, upwards. During these sessions, our friendly instructors are on hand to answer sailors questions, offer their ‘top tips’ and ensure that children maintain their bug for sailing.
Winter onboard is made up of 2 different sessions – Sailors can choose to attend both or stick to their desired discipline. Winter Onboard offers the perfect platform for children with sailing experience, to step into a different area of the sport. With both introductions to Keelboating and Introduction to Dinghy racing, our winter series is sure to offer a thrill!
In our new for 2023 winer Onboard keel boating club, you will take on a series of Sunday afternoon training sessions, to learn how to sail one of our Sonar Keel Boats, how to navigate using chart and compass, learn about tides, and learn how to plan a passage, all in preparation for a day sail, sailing all the way from Southampton Water Activity Centre, round to another location in Southampton water for lunch before heading back to SWAC to finish your journey.
This is ideal for someone who has completed their Stage 2 or above and want’s to give Keelboating a go!
New for the 2023 season, we have an introduction to dinghy racing. If you have completed your stage 3 or above and like to take part in some friendly rivalry on the water, our winter race training is a perfect way to get the bug for dinghy racing.
Over the course of the series, each session we will aim to finish with a race that will have the results recorded to create a leaderboard, to compete for prises on the last session.
The last session will be an Onboard Regatta, where you can put everything that you have learned to the test, racing against your mates to win the Onboard cup!
