Anybody can experience the thrill and exhilaration of windsurfing. Whether you want to crack the carve gybe, speed off the start line, play around on your next activity holiday or encourage your kids to take part, there’s a course for you.
With the right equipment and our high quality RYA instruction, you should pick it up in no time.
For complete beginners, this is an introduction to windsurfing for anybody, covering everything you need to know to get afloat under supervision.
There is no previous experience required and no lower age limit (although under 16’s may prefer to learn through the Youth Windsurfing Scheme).
Our friendly instructors will be with you every step of the way, offering clear instruction, guidance and encouragement.
By the end of the two day course, you will be able to sail to a chosen point on the water, tacking and gybing in light winds.
This is a follow on course from the RYA Start Windsurfing Course. Participants must have windsurfing skills to the standard of Start Windsurfing, or Youth Stage 2.
Your instructor will build your confidence on the water, coach you through more fluid transitions and introduce new techniques such as beach starting and using a harness.
By the end of the two day course, you will be able to sail on all points of sailing in stronger winds, using beachstarts and faster tacking and gybing.
Other than the fact we’re an RYA Training Centre of excellence, have access to arguably one of the best sailing locations across the globe and are located in the heart of the South Coast:
Our courses are led by friendly, passionate and qualified RYA Instructors – some might say some of the best in the industry.
We also offer courses suitable for adults, children, groups and those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities – anybody can learn new skills.
All specialist kit is provided – including Buoyancy aids and harnesses.
We have a selection of boards and rigs available so that everybody can get afloat.
Our city-centre location means that SWAC is accessible from all major transport routes. Southampton also offers a host of affordable accommodation within walking distance of the Centre, and many local eateries – perfect for overnight stays.
Our sailing areas allow us to deliver a variety of courses and include the River Itchen, Southampton Water and The Solent.
We’re powered by a cause-led charity and are on a mission to persuade the nation to be active.
When you buy a course from us, or undertake your next training at SWAC, you’re allowing us to offer water-based activities to local communities who otherwise, may not have had the chance.
