If you’re a competent, powerboater with varied experience and you’re interested in sharing your expertise and enthusiasm with others, this could be the course for you!
This RYA Powerboat Instructor course will equip you with the knowledge and skills you need to teach RYA Powerboat Levels 1 and 2 at any recognised RYA training centres.
The RYA Powerboat Instructor course trains you in the various techniques and teaching methods required to instruct the RYA Powerboat Level 1 and 2 syllabus and is run by an RYA Powerboat Trainer.
This 3-day course trains you in the various techniques and teaching methods required to instruct the RYA Level 1 and 2 syllabus and is run by an RYA Powerboat Trainer. All students will practise running a number of sessions to develop personal skills and teaching ability.
You must have already passed the Pre-Entry Skills Assessment. This can be taken with us and is always available the day before this course.
We regularly deliver first class RYA instructor training courses. These courses equip you with the skills needed to become an instructor and are available.

Our Powerboat Instructor Courses are run over three days.
There is pre-assessment day run before each course which must be passed before the course start date. These are usually run the day before the course and must be purchased seperately.
This is a pre-requisite for the RYA Powerboat Instructor Course. It is a 1-day assessment and candidates must demonstrate a high level of powerboat driving competence.
This is a compulsory assessment day to allow entry onto the RYA Powerboat Instructor course. During the day the students will cover a series of manoeuvres and demonstrate competence of powerboat driving to Instructor standards.
The Advanced Powerboat Instructor Course is designed to ensure the potential Advanced Instructor has the experience, knowledge and competence to teach the Advanced, Intermediate courses and Tender Operator Courses as well as being able to undertake Own Boat Training outside a school’s operating area. At the same time the endorsement ensures that you know exactly what to teach against all the subject areas of these courses.
The course is a mixture of running practical sessions afloat to discussing the syllabus, the difference between instructing and coaching, how to deliver and structure the various subjects in the courses as well as night exercise on the first evening.

Advanced instructors wishing to teach the advanced course must hold of one of the following Certificates of Competence with commercial endorsement:
