Ofsted Tailored Programmes

Improve the health of your pupils.

Mental health problems affect about 1 in 10 children and young people. They include depression, anxiety and conduct disorder, and are often a direct response to what is happening in their lives.

The emotional wellbeing of children is just as important as their physical health. Good mental health allows children and young people to develop the resilience to cope with whatever life throws at them and grow into well-rounded, healthy adults.

A tailored approach can help

A tailored approach is the key to improving the health and wellbeing of our children. This can be achieved when coupled with a specific physical activity intervention - and we've got it covered.

Being active helps

Being in good physical health, eating a balanced diet and getting regular exercise coupled with having time and the freedom to play, indoors and outdoors are vital to the positive mental health of young people.

how are results measured?

VALIDATED TOOLS
Our health team utilise Royal Society of Public Health and NHS validated tools to measure the physical, mental and social health of pupils. These are through non-intrusive motivational interviewing techniques, delivered whist children are being coached.
PARTNERSHIP WORKING
We've teamed up with some of Southampton's best teams to provide specialist support to your pupils, where required. Whether this be support with healthy eating, support for young carers or accessing behaviour change services for young people, we can signpost to the best support.
REGULAR MONITORING
Regular monitoring meetings with school staff, governors and partners are held to identify changes within pupils lifestyles and to monitor the physical, mental and social benefits being delivered within the after school clubs. Expert advice is also given to schools to assist with the communication of this work to Ofsted inspectors.
REPORTING
Our offering will allow your school to report positive outcomes against 3 of the 5 indicators where improvements should be seen. These include PI1. The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity, aiming for 30 minutes a day within school time; PI2. The profile of PE and sport is raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement and PI4. Broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils.
