Set realistic goals

Setting yourself realistic goals is key and will help keep you focused. By the end of the 4 weeks you can expect to be able to move around the pool with confidence and not panic if splashed.

Course Dates

Courses run on a rolling 4 week basis and will be discussed with you when the swim teacher makes contact.

Bitterne Leisure Centre, Southampton

The Water Confidence Course takes place in the Learner Pool at Bitterne Leisure Centre.

The learner pool is 10m x 7.5m, has a water depth of just 0.75m and is kept at a tropical 30-33 degrees, so you will be very comfortable and at no point will you be out of your depth.

For further peace of mind, our instructors hold a Level 2 Swim England accredited teaching qualification so you are in safe hands.

FAQS

Still got questions, view our list of frequently asked questions.

How do I enrol on the scheme?
Easy – complete the form to the right and a teacher will give you a call back with details of the sessions. They’ll be able to answer any questions you have and enrol you on the course, should you wish.
What happens after the 4 week course? Do I move up a stage?
That’s totally up to you! Either you can carry on (we might need to update your payments) or decide that you’ve learnt enough and stop.
Is the scheme running individually or in a group?
Most people prefer to learn in a group, however if you’d prefer some 1-2-1 sessions, let the teacher know when they get in touch.
Do I get a certificate?
If you’d like one – of course! We have certificates available but realise that not all adults want on after finishing.
