THERE’S NO BETTER WAY TO LEARN, THAN AN RYA POWERBOAT LEVEL 2 COURSE

The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) National Powerboat Scheme is aimed at craft of up to 10m and without a galley or toilet on board. The qualifications gained from within this scheme are recognised around the world and some are relevant to those driving commercially.

The Powerboat Level 2 course provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence. It aims to teach boat handling and seamanship in powerboats. It focuses on low speed, close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, and collision regulations. The course is run at a coastal location. It may be conducted in a variety of boat types. The certificate issued will be endorsed to show the type of boat in which the training took place.

No Prior experience is required prior to attending the course and following our 2 day course, you’ll be able to handle a powerboat in familiar waters by day.

We deliver our Powerboat Level 2 courses in a range of RIBs from 4.6m-7.8m and our courses operate within the River Itchen, River Hamble and Southampton Water– covering a range of locations and conditions.

We are proud to be a premier watersports venue on the South Coast and have been delivering RYA Training for decades.

We’ll issue an RYA Powerboat Level 2 Coastal Certificate upon successful completion of the course. You will need to provide a current Passport Photo of yourself, please bring this with you on day 1 of the course.

WHY LEARN AT SWAC?

After successfully completing the two day course you will gain a Level 2 Certificate which will allow you to apply for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC). No prior knowledge of boat-handling is expected for candidates participating in this course.

Following completion of the course the attendee should be a self-sufficient powerboater in the right conditions, aware of own limitations and those of the craft.
