WHAT IS BADMINTON?

More and more people across the country are taking part in racket sports in a bid to stay fit and healthy and badminton is still the most popular with more than 613,000 people playing each week in England. Play with a partner or in pairs.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?

Badminton is a great and fun way to get active and catch up with friends. It’s also a great sport for children and is one of the few activities the whole family can enjoy at the same time – from youngsters to grandparents. Many Active Nation venues run brilliant informal sessions or can put you in touch with a local club if you fancy a bit of competition.

IS IT FOR ME?

If you fancy a bit of social activity where you can set the pace then badminton could be for you. It doesn’t matter how long it’s been since you last played, as soon as you pick up a racket you can start to refresh and develop your skills.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED?

  • A racket and shuttlecock (although you can hire these)
  • A partner to play against
  • A bottle of water
  • A towel in case you get a bit sweaty
  • Comfortable footwear
  • Comfortable clothing that you can move around the court in
