Wishing Olympic Medalist Pete Every Success In His Retirement
Olympic silver medallist Peter Waterfield finally hung up his trunks in the Autumn of 2013 after one of the most successful careers in British springboard/highboard diving.
Spanning 23 years his career took him from grass roots in Waltham Forest, through international competitions across the world including four Olympic Games.
In January 2014 Active Nation’s Southampton Diving Academy, the club he competed for from 2000 until his retirement, arranged a party to wish him success with his plans for the future as he moves onto a new pathway. Fellow team members, family, support staff and other well wishers who have been involved with his amazing success through the years joined his coach, Lindsey Fraser, in toasting his past triumphs and future life.
Preparing for the event Lindsey reflected: “It has been hard to get used to the idea of a British team that doesn’t have Pete at its heart after all these years. I have been privileged to have been able to contribute to the development of such an incredible athlete, who has been instrumental in making the sport of diving so successful in Great Britain during the time of his involvement.”
Peter continues his commitment to the sport through his role as President of Active Nation’s Southampton Diving Academy, his involvement in the delivery of Talent Camps at the Quays Swimming and Diving Complex and introducing youngsters to the sport in his capacity as a mentor and guide in schools.
