Saturday Night Project Is Back – Better Than Ever!
The Saturday Night Project is back in Etwall and it’s bigger and better than ever!
After a short break, the project has relaunched with more staff dedicated to providing fun and exciting opportunities for young people.
For just £3 per session, 11-16 years olds can go to Etwall Leisure Centre on a Saturday night between 7pm and 9pm and take part in activities, including football on the new 3G pitch (trainers or moulded studs only), sports in the sports hall or simply relax in the chillout zone.
The project first launched in 2009 and was the brainwave of the local parish council following consultation with the young people in the village and schools, and the Active Nation team have helped bring it to fruition. It runs every Saturday night, except for school holidays, with around 30-40 people signing in each week. Following the relaunch, even more highly trained staff are now on hand to work with the young people and offer them more activities and opportunities.
Active Nation’s Eleanor Carr is passionate about the project and what it can offer. She said: “The Saturday Night Project gives everyone a safe place to socialise with friends and take part in a range of different sporty activities to keep them fit and active! We offer everything from football, to gym sessions and regularly run short courses such as our recent Street Dance sessions which were really popular.
“We are always looking for new activities and new grants to improve the quality of our sessions. So I guess our next challenge is to get our fantastic new team ready to help raise funds and keep our activity programme up to date to ensure fun and active Saturday nights!
Matthew regularly hangs out at the project. He said: “It’s great to have the project and have somewhere to go on a Saturday night and meet up with friends.”
If you would like more information about the project then go to Etwall Leisure Centre on a Saturday night between 7pm and 9pm or give us a call on 01283 733348.
