Kick Off For Etwalls New State Of The Art Football Pitch
With yet another new football season underway, South Derbyshire now boasts a fine new facility on which the beautiful game can be enjoyed come rain or shine.
The surface, which is playable in all weathers, takes is a full-size football pitch that can also be divided into thirds, accommodating everything from training to matches, small-sided to 11-a-side games, junior to senior players.
The pitch should pay dividends for our on-site partner football club, Hilton Harriers FC, who will be found gracing the ‘turf’ throughout the season.
But the benefits to the local community don’t stop at club level. A wide programme of new activities has kicked off for the summer that open the pitch to everyone, including casual pay-and-play sessions for adults and football parties for the kids. We’re also looking to put on both football and multi-skills camps in future school holidays, so watch this space!
The team at Etwall Leisure Centre are naturally rather pleased to have a facility that is amongst the newest in the country (and perhaps the prospect of a cheeky after-work kickabout). Emily Jeffrey, who doubles as our Pitch Coordinator and as a midfielder for Derby County Ladies, said: “the pitch is a great new facility for people in the local area. We’re really proud to have this pitch, its great for the development of local football, we now have an excellent facility for clubs and local players.”
