Join In The Fun And Help Lincoln Swimarathon 2015!
Calling all swimmers!!! Can you organise a team of up to 6 swimmers to take part in the popular Lincoln Swimarathon and raise money for local charities?
This year the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia is raising cash for Headway Lincolnshire and the Lincoln Asthma Swimming Group at this popular event.
Each team will swim for 55 minutes in relay at Yarborough Leisure Centre on Sunday (March 8), with officials recording the number of lengths swam. The entry fee is £10 per team (not per swimmer) and then each individual swimmer gets sponsorship from family and friends for these worthy local causes.
All swimmers will receive a certificate and a medal for taking part. Space is limited to 60 teams which are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, so enter now to guarantee your team a place!
The first swimmers will start at 8.30am and every hour thereafter until 5.30pm. So get together with friends from your school, club, work or even the pub and send for an entry form.
Active Nation’s Jo Worsdall took part in last year’s event. She said: “This really is a great and fun way to raise funds for wonderful local charities by being active.
“There is a great atmosphere in the pool and everyone has a great time. I would urge as many teams as possible to sign up and take the plunge.”
Last year a total of 38 teams took part in the event, covering a combined 5,727 miles. In first place, swimming a total of 247 lengths, was the UL Manatees with captain Lindsay Brown, D Taylor, G Court, A Evans, S George and D Bishop.
