Be Inspired By The Professionals And Join The Active Nation Chorley Cycle Rides

The British Cycling Elite Road Series is coming to Chorley and to celebrate all things cycling we are launching the Active Nation Chorley Cycle Rides.

Be inspired on Saturday 4th April, as Britain’s top professional cyclists race-off on a 116 mile course around the Chorley Borough in the opening round of the British Cycling Elite Road Series for 2015.

Chorley Council has teamed up with British Cycling and Chorley Building Society to host the Chorley Grand Prix which will see thousands of visitors and locals cheer on some of the country’s top riders and teams as they battle-it-out.

This is the first time the event has been held in Chorley and Active Nation are on a mission to capture all of the excitement, inspiration and enthusiasm that the professionals will bring and give local cyclists the opportunity to take on their own challenge.

On Sunday 5th April, choose from 10, 30 or 50 miles and complete a course that sets off from Active Nation’s All Season’s Leisure Centre and makes the most of the region’s brilliant routes for cycling.

It will be a challenge as elements of the 30 mile and 50 mile routes will also include sections of the Manchester Commonwealth Games Road Race circuit. That’s why we recommend that it’s only suitable for more experienced cyclists aged 14+.

All routes cost just £10, refreshments will be provided at the start and finish, plus half way round on the 30 mile and 50 mile courses. Registration commences from 8.30am and riders are expected to get underway at 9.30am.

Active Nation’s Brian Ratcliffe said: “It’s so exciting to see Chorley kick off the British Cycling Elite Road Series for 2015. There’s a real buzz about the Chorley Grand Prix and we want to give non-professionals the opportunity to get pedalling and challenge themselves on some of the country’s best cycle routes.

“It promises to be a great event. Don’t forget if you need to get in some last minute training we have cycling studios and some of the best kit around, including Wattbikes – the training bike used by the pros.”
