Final Preparations Underway For The Lincoln 10K

Thousands of runners are getting ready for this weekend’s City of Lincoln 10K – including many Active Nation team members and supporters.

It will be the 19th running of the popular Lincoln 10K event, which for the first time in its history is being organised by Run For All – part of the lasting legacy of the late Jane Tomlinson CBE who raised almost £2m for charity through a series of endurance challenges, despite being diagnosed with incurable cancer.

The City of Lincoln 10K Road Race – now part of the popular Asda Foundation 10K series that features events in Leeds, York, Hull and Burnley – attracts people from across the UK and abroad. Participants can choose to run for fun or to raise funds for any cause of their choice.

The event starts outside Active Nation’s Yarborough Leisure Centre on Riseholme Road and boasts a route that takes in some of Lincoln’s historic landmarks including the cathedral and the city’s Roman Walls.

And youngsters aged between 9 and 14 will be encouraged to pull on their trainers to take part in the Arena Group City of Lincoln Mini and Junior Runs, which take place on the Saturday 21st March.

As the times of our swimming lessons, basketball lessons and toddler gym clash with the road closures for the junior events they have all been cancelled on Saturday March 21st. All group exercise classes will run as normal on this day but please be aware of local road closures.

On Sunday March 22nd all of our group exercise classes have been cancelled as they coincide with the Lincoln 10k.

Siobhan Curtis, Jane Tomlinson Appeal legacy manager, said: “The Asda Foundation 10K series continues to go from strength to strength and it is great that the programme of events has now been extended to include Lincoln. It is sure to be a fantastic day, not only for the thousands of runners who will take part but also the many charities which will benefit from the event.”

Good luck to everyone taking part this weekend and if you want to soak up the brilliant atmosphere why not come down and cheer on all of the runners.
