Smartcities Bitterne

Those who qualify for the scheme can get a discount on sport and exercise activities across the city!

Active Nation are working in partnership with the Southampton City Council Smartcities team to provide discounted access to our leisure venues in Southampton.  If you are a Smartcities card holder with a Get Active subscription, you can access a range of activities at a heavily discounted rate.

Active Nation are offering subsidised access to the following activities:

All activities can be accessed from 9.00am – 4.00pm (last admittance is 3.15pm) from Monday to Friday, 52 weeks of the year.

How to Apply for a Smartcities Card

Applications for Smartcities cards can be made in Gateway at One Guildhall Square, a Southampton library or a local housing office.

A proof of personal identification containing your date of birth, a proof of address and a good quality colour passport photograph will be required (Gateway can take your photograph for the card, but this is not a guaranteed service). For the Get Active subscription evidence of being in receipt of one of the following benefits will be required:

  • Housing benefits
  • Income support/guarantee pension credit
  • Council tax main benefit
  • Job seekers income based
  • Incapacity benefit/ESA*
  • Severe disablement allowance*
  • Disability living allowance/attendance*

An unwaged spouse, partner or unwaged children under 18 also qualify if the main applicant is in receipt of one of the top four benefits.

*These benefits are for individual claimants only. Therefore partners/children may not be eligible for this scheme.
