One day RYA First Aid course for the water sports environment.

What is RYA First Aid?

First aid training to help sailors and water sport instructors save lives. The course is tailored to scenarios experienced on small craft at sea, such as hypothermia, cold shock, drowning and secondary drowning. It covers helicopter rescue and use of the Category C first aid kit, as well as CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation), bandaging and burns. It is valid up to 60 miles offshore.

When is it?

This course runs twice a month, usually from 09:00 to 17:00 on Sundays or Fridays.

Anyone using small craft at sea. This includes leisure sailors, water sport instructors and motor boaters. It is suitable for those looking to obtain a commercial endorsement.

Our dedicated training centre is close to Ocean Village Marina in Southampton. On request, one of our experienced instructors can deliver a course at your club or venue.

Programme Benefits

  • A basic understanding of first aid can save lives at sea. This course will give you the confidence to deal with the very different medical emergencies that can occur away from land. The certificate is valid for three years.
